About Freelance News
Freelance News is an independent trade wire for people who work for themselves: freelancers, studio professionals and small teams. It covers the changes that actually move a working week — marketplace rules and fees, AI tools and pricing, automation, design, motion and software development.
What we publish
Every item is a short original summary of reporting published elsewhere, written in our own words, with the outlet named and linked at the bottom of the page. We do not republish articles, we do not copy sentences, and we do not host other publishers' images. If you want the full story, the link to the original is always one click away — that is the point of the format.
Rubrics
- Upwork — Platform rules, fees, Connects and algorithm changes on the biggest freelance marketplace.
- Freelance — Rates, contracts, taxes and the economics of independent work.
- AI — Model releases, creative tools and what they actually change for working professionals.
- Automation — Agents, no-code pipelines and the quiet automation of routine work.
- Design — Product design, brand systems, typography and the tools designers live in.
- Motion & Video — Motion design, animation, VFX and video production craft.
- Development — Web and software development, frameworks, browsers and the shipping side of the craft.
Who runs it
Freelance News is published by Serhii Dovhyi, a motion designer and developer who also builds SnipeWork, an Upwork job scanner, and works under sergeydesigner.pro. Both are named openly wherever they appear on this site, and neither pays for coverage — there is no paid placement here at all.
